The book is divided into nine chapters, selecting nine categories of poems for evaluation and appreciation, including the most distinctive poems of the Tang Dynasty, such as separation from friends and friends, homesickness while traveling, love and palace resentment, love and marriage, mourning for immortals, chanting about things and aspirations, chanting about history and remembering the past, landscapes and pastoral, and frontier fortress battles. The poets selected are mainly first-rate poets, as well as second-rate and third-rate poets.
