Lu Ping openly challenged the private detective Hawthorne. Lu Ping deliberately announced the plot of stealing Wu Daozi's paintings collected by a wealthy businessman. The detective Hawthorne, who was entrusted to protect the ancient paintings, was led around by Lu Ping and fell into some naive traps for no apparent reason. However, the description technique in the whole story seems very mediocre and clumsy. Neither the sophistication and alertness of the "gangster" nor the wisdom and intelligence of the great detective can be seen. It exposes the author's lack of talent and it is a failed work.
