"Twenty Lectures on Tang Poetry" (formerly known as "Introduction to Tang Poetry") is Su Xuelin's innovative use of modern literary theory to observe Tang poetry and study the history of Tang poetry. It is called "the first monograph on Tang poetry in modern China" by academic circles, and is also the first chronological history of poetry in my country. Su Xuelin broke with the traditional research methods and research ideas such as article studies and textual criticism used by previous generations of scholars, and used the academic vision and vision of a literary historian to examine the complex works of Tang Dynasty writers. He was the first to use modern concepts such as genres and styles to break through the vision of his predecessors.
