Qian Zhongshu described marriage: "People in the city want to go out, and people outside the city want to come in." This is a perfect description of Chen Zhongmin, a farmer's son struggling in the city. Chen Zhongmin was born in the 1960s. He was eager to escape from this rural village full of suffering. The college entrance examination enabled him to successfully move from the countryside to the city. In the city, he studied, worked, and worked hard to realize his goals in life and his ideals of making contributions. However, as he reached middle age, Chen Zhongmin did not integrate well into the city and partially lost the foundation of his hometown. Wandering at the crossroads between old and new eras and between urban and rural areas, he finally found his own position.
