Dean Wood narrowly survived the battle with the barbarians in the north, and was later involved in a series of major events that determined the direction of the world. He tried to find the meaning of life and a way back to his original life, with friends and lovers helping him, so that the descendant of the dragon-slaying warrior would not have to fight alone. He knew that he was born with no name, but he never thought that this seemingly ordinary mercenary had long since become a pawn on the chessboard of the gods. He either could not help but passively respond, or actively participated in desperate situations to survive, all just to survive until the final "general" moment.
