"Can you calm down your heart?" The preface to the Chinese translation of "Walden Pond" first raised this question. Obscure and difficult to read may be many people's first impression of the book "Walden". How do the freshmen of Tsinghua University's class of 2016 view this issue? In the summer of 2016, Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University, gave the book "Walden" as a gift to every incoming Tsinghua freshman. When I first read this book, the students had the same reaction as most people. It was difficult to calm down and enter the author's world. But as the reading progressed, the students gradually felt the "power of tranquility" derived from the book. After enrolling, the freshmen wrote their reflections one after another. This book was compiled after repeatedly selecting from many reflections. Tsinghua students from all over the country wrote about their thoughts on the minimalist life of the author Thoreau, or expressed their yearning for peace of mind in the hustle and bustle, or thought about the impact of the "Walden Pond" on campus, or found the original intention of pursuing their dreams... Expressing their understanding and insights in different words.
