The author of this book, who was born and raised here, observes the regional appearances and humanistic subtleties of the old and new periods in Northern Shaanxi. He explores their humanistic temperament, cultural connotation, historical details, and material appearance from four sections: characters, culture, ancient history, and objects. It intuitively, memorably, and adaptably touches the living environment of Northern Shaanxi people. It strives to give some "dying" or "dead" things in northern Shaanxi that are deeply hidden within civilization a "breath" and a "storage" in the simple lines. It also strives to make these ruin-like things in northern Shaanxi glow with new vitality in their own concentration, and gain regional integration and civilizational identity in a broader and more universal sense.
