"General Course on Writing at Southwest Associated University" consists of four parts and an appendix. In the first part, Mr. Zhu Ziqing explains literary knowledge and language arts aesthetics; in the second part, Mr. Shen Congwen explains specific writing methods and skills; in the third part, Mr. Zhu Ziqing and Shen Congwen give reading appreciation classes to students; in the fourth part, a monologue by Mr. Shen Congwen as the creator is selected. The appendix is a selection of texts from the "Selected Chinese Literature of Southwest Associated University", a compulsory course for students in all departments of the General Assembly, including works by masters such as Zhu Guangqian, Lu Xun, and Wang Guowei.
