This book is a collection of short stories by Shao Zinan. It includes "Landmine Formation" and "Yan Rongtang's Nine Deaths", which reflect the use of labor wisdom by grassroots soldiers and civilians to bravely fight against the invaders during the Anti-Japanese War; it reflects the efforts of the working class to improve themselves and love after the founding of New China. "I am a plasterer" and "The Story of Carpenters Making Machines", which are dedicated to their work and contribute to socialist construction; as well as short stories such as "Zhao Qiaoer Sends a Lampstand" and "Old Land Havoc in Heaven" which use folk legends as the basis to tell new morals and new ideas. It describes the severe tests that the Chinese people have experienced in difficult years, but the whole story is filled with optimistic beliefs and a bright atmosphere, showing the Chinese people's hard-working, resourceful, courageous, and unyielding character.
