The adult world is full of worries, but in this kind of relationship that is clearly known to be fruitless, there is an almost stubborn determination. They are not young and frivolous, nor do they not know how to weigh the pros and cons. On the contrary, they understand it too well. They know the rules of society, they know the obstacles in reality, and they know that their investment may be in vain. Therefore, their "firmness" is not blind, but sober.
