In Suzhou, the hometown of embroidery, Shen Linghui, the descendant of the embroidery hall, was an embroiderer from Jiangnan in the late Qing Dynasty. She was as beautiful as a flower and worked hard to run Yuchunfang. On the birthday of the Empress Dowager Cixi, Shen Linghui's embroidery works were selected as tributes by the imperial court. The Yuchunfang run by Shen Linghui was also awarded the plaque "The No. 1 Embroidery Workshop in the World" by the imperial court. In 1919, during a workers' riot, bandits and robbers mixed into the workers and looted Yuchunfang. Shen Linghui was killed by the bandits and robbers in order to protect the embroidery workshop. She left behind an adopted daughter, Shen Xuexin, who was adopted by the servant Cui Ma. Shen Xuexin grew up in an era when the feudal dynasty completely collapsed and the Republic of China was born. She was always intertwined with the contradiction between decadence and endeavor. After Shen Xuexin grew up, she relied on her talent to become a skilled embroiderer. She decided to revive Yuchunfang's former glory.
