"Four Thousand Years of Writings" is an anthology of Chinese literature from past dynasties, with a total of 102 selected articles starting from the pre-Qin Dynasty to modern times. The book was edited, punctuated, and annotated by Mr. Gao Shizhi. Mr. Gao Shizhi is famous for his poetry and calligraphy. He taught at Sichuan University in the early days of the Anti-Japanese War. He compiled his own ancient prose as lecture notes, which have been passed down to the world and were adopted by schools in Sichuan during the Anti-Japanese War. In 1943, the lecture notes were published under the title "Selected Works of Four Thousand Years" by Fuxing Bookstore in Chengdu, Sichuan. In 1996, Mr. Gao Xiangzhang, a descendant of the Gao family, reorganized the book, added annotations and explanations, and published it in 2003. This time the whole book has been revised and reprinted, which makes this well-selected and thoroughly explained university ancient Chinese textbook of the Republic of China more perfect and presented with a new look.
