This book takes British and American Liaozhai studies as the research object, adopts the research idea of ​​two-way interpretation of Sinology and Chinese studies, and hopes to promote the construction of an academic community for Chinese and foreign Liaozhai studies. On the one hand, it starts from academic research and judgment and the translation (text) itself, and from the perspective of comparative literature and cross-cultural research, comprehensively considers the frameshift, translation style, intention, gender concept, translation strategy, annotation method, etc. Of the translated text; on the other hand, it extends to important links such as Liaozhai-related comments, images, and images that have been ignored before. The whole book uses mutual verification and counter-reading methods to identify a number of problem areas, creating a strong discourse convection between texts at different levels and intervals, thereby forming a pattern of critical dialogue between Chinese studies and Sinology.
