Through the life experiences of several generations of Zhou Xiuhua's family, the novel describes the rise, fall and evolution of Qujiapuzi, a small town in Northeast China. It reflects the country's continuous social changes and complex social phenomena in modern times, the impact and changes on women's psychology, and the conflicts, injuries and pain caused between relatives and the sexes, shaping their strong and intelligent images. The novel mainly depicts a group of female images, describing the changes and deprivations of their hearts caused by the complex living environment, and depicts their mental state after being destroyed by secular life. Most of them struggle or compromise with life with their tough characters and stubborn attitudes. There are always other women lingering before and behind a woman, and there is always another wave of stories intertwined with the top, bottom, left and right of a story.
