This work is a realistic tragedy focusing on human nature and sin, telling the story of the collapse of Chen Shouyi, an honest worker in Jiangcheng in the 1980s. He, his wife Lin Hui, and his brother Zhao Jianjun were originally close friends, but because of Lin Hui and Zhao Jianjun's affair, they laid a hidden scam - Chen Shouyi's biological son died in infancy and was secretly buried. The two gave him their illegitimate son Chen Dong to raise, which they kept a secret for fifteen years. The truth was torn apart due to blood type conflicts and the exposure of old documents. Chen Shouyi learned that he had been bullied for half his life, that his own son died in vain, and that his adopted son was not his own. He instantly lost his heart and fell into silence. Since then, rumors have spread and the reputations of the three people have been ruined: Zhao Jianjun was ruined and wandered madly; Lin Hui was trapped in a deserted courtyard and repented to death; Chen Dong was burdened with the original sin of his life and wandered alone; Chen Shouyi stayed alone in the factory and died in depression, and was buried in the deserted hills with his deceased relatives and children.
