My name is Wu Jiecai. When the war in Ukraine burned down my wife Aina's home, I put down my business that was on the verge of bankruptcy and embarked on the thorny road of saving my father-in-law's family. From fundraising to traveling across the war zone to pick up people, I formed a life-and-death alliance with my brother-in-law, Ivan, a young Ukrainian who once struggled on the edge of the battlefield. We brought two elderly people and Ivan's sister Sophia back from the ruins to Tianjin, China. However, escaping the war was only the beginning. The pride of my father-in-law Sergei collided fiercely with my "over-protection"; Ivan and my sister Wu Yuqing got closer unexpectedly; Aina and Sophia healed the wounds of war in their own ways. This is not a unilateral rescue, but a story of two families on the ruins, using misunderstandings, tears and love, clumsily but firmly learning how to "treat the country as their home", and finally reborn their broken lives and hope in a foreign soil.
