Most of the research on folktales in the past 70 years has centered on the multiple values of folktales. While absorbing materials from other places, it also pays attention to local characteristics, forming multiple theoretical approaches such as the collection and adaptation of folktales, comparative research, genre research, cultural anthropology research, story morphology research, folk tale history, etc., Showing a tortuous path forward. Based on an extensive search and careful reading of nearly 70 years of research on Chinese folktales, this book focuses on in-depth analysis of typology, comparative research, cultural anthropology, morphological research, collection research, and the terminology system of storyology. It combines academic comments and academic interviews to summarize the research track and achievements of Chinese folktales while reflecting on the current dilemma of Chinese storyology and exploring the way forward for storyology in the future.
