"Collection of Legends of the Tang and Song Dynasties" is a collection of legends compiled by Lu Xun over more than ten years of hard work. Lu Xun divided it into 8 volumes. The first 5 volumes contain 32 legends of the Tang Dynasty, and the last three volumes contain 13 legends of the Song Dynasty. According to works such as "Wenyuan Yinghua", "Taiping Guangji", "Qingsuo Gaoyi" and other works, single legends were selected and compiled into this collection. At the end of the book, there is a volume of "Barnyard Xiaozhu", which provides a textual research explanation of the author, version and story content of each article. This book is compiled with reference to a number of readers published in different years, including "Collection of Legends of the Tang and Song Dynasties" included in the 10th volume of "The Complete Works of Lu Xun" published by Shanghai Beixin Book Company, Shanghai Lianhua Book Company, and People's Literature Publishing House. In addition, the editor extracted several essences from "Tang Dynasty Novels" edited by Wang Pijiang, a famous modern writer, as an appendix to this book, so that readers can appreciate the charm of Tang legends.
