This book pays special attention to and tries its best to explore the unique literary consciousness with cultural heterogeneity and theoretical universality in the Chinese popular literary tradition. It uses the method of combining fact reduction, problem characterization and theoretical elaboration to focus on the study of "China's elegant and popular cultural tradition and traditional Chinese narrative literary thought". Important issues include the "outside history" view and the inward view of aesthetic pursuit, the formation of fictional and creative consciousnesses such as "performance" and "meaning", the "interpretation" theory and the "self-oriented" consciousness in the literary acceptance view, the "power and education" view in the value concept of popular literature, and the expression and deconstruction of alternative ideologies in popular literature.
