The Confucius Temple, also known as the Confucian Temple, was founded in Qufu in 478 BC as a family temple to worship Confucius. Later, with the formation of the dominance of Confucianism and the continuous improvement of Confucius' status, Confucius temples appeared in the capitals of separatist regimes starting from the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
