Local chronicles are a unique traditional cultural form of the Chinese nation. Since ancient times, they have been the "official revision" and "official book" of "official positions and official responsibilities", and various types of local chronicles are fixed places to display this excellent traditional culture. In order of historical development, this book introduces the early official historical chronicle institutions in Chinese history, the establishment of bureaus to compile unified chronicles and the development of local chronicles in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, the difficult development of local chronicles during the Republic of China, and the contributions of various related institutions to the development of local chronicles. It also focuses on the development of local chronicles since the founding of New China.
