Flower Notes Tea Ceremony

Old Bridge

53K0

The decorated paper is called "flower paper". There is a sentence in the preface of "Xin Yong of Wangtai" compiled by Xu Ling of the Southern Dynasties: "Five-color flower paper, paper from Hebei and Jiaodong". Huajian should have originated from the homemade flower paper written by Xue Tao, a female poet in the Mid-Tang Dynasty. More than 1,300 years ago, in the boudoir of the mountain pavilion, burning incense and bathing her hands, the female poet Xue Tao created a kind of pink paper, which became the brand of Xue Tao's paper. Therefore, the reputation of her flower notes is much higher than that of her poems. Later, literati of various dynasties or paper shops and workshops produced various kinds of flower paper, mostly based on the calligraphy and painting of famous people, which looked very elegant and precious. Tea poems were more common among the ancients when they wrote about drinks, but of course they are not as good as wine poems. It was not until the Tang Dynasty that literati and officials gradually became fond of drinking tea. Especially in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were gradually more poems about tea. This book selects 36 tea people's stories and explores the stories behind the familiar ancients such as Lu Yu, Bai Juyi and Wang Wei about their encounter with tea. The author's handwritten 36 tea poems on flower paper and dozens of paintings by famous artists vividly reproduce the elegant life of traditional literati.
