Changde, known as "Wuling" in ancient times, is located in the northern part of Hunan Province, on the west side of Dongting Lake in the south of the Yangtze River, at the foot of Wuling Mountain. Shimen, part of Changde City, has 26 ethnic minority residents including Tujia, Bai, Hui and Miao. It is a county inhabited by ethnic minorities. Historically, this was the central area ruled by Tianping Tusi. The Tujia people accounted for 56.41% Of the total population of the county, and the Tujia people have rich traditional customs. The folk customs here are simple and the people are loyal and hardworking.
