Throughout the world of literature, there are many miser images, among which Shylock in Shakespeare's comedy "The Merchant of Venice", Abagon in Molière's comedy "The Miser" (also translated as "The Stingy Man"), Plyushkin in Gogol's novel "Dead Souls", and Grandet in Balzac's novel "Eugénie Grandet" are the most representative. These four images of misers were created in three countries and were created by four famous figures. They involve social existence for several centuries and summarize the historical development process of Europe in the past four hundred years from one perspective.
