This book is compiled based on relevant records from Chinese historical classics such as "Shangshu", "Zuo Zhuan", "Yi Zhou Shu", "Guoyu", "Bamboo Chronicles", "Warring States Policy", "Historical Records", "Zizhi Tongjian", "Continued Zizhi Tongjian", "Ming and Qing History Manuscripts", etc. It is written in vernacular and the language style is based on "Zi Zhi Tongjian". Historical eras (including emperor year names, Ganzhi year names, and AD year names) are recorded year by year, without duplication, omission, or misplacement. The structure of the work is based on historical dynasties as volumes, with each emperor forming an independent chapter. It has the characteristics of accurate chronology, clear events, vivid characters, compact structure, and concise writing. It is a chronicle of China's general history from the first year of the Yellow Emperor (the first year of Jiazi, 2697 BC) to the nineteenth year of Minning Daoguang, Xuanzong of the Qing Dynasty (the seventy-sixth year of Jihai, 1839 AD).
