When he came out of the orphanage three years ago, the dean gave him a small, polished copper box, the size of a palm, with some crooked patterns carved on it, like words and paintings. The dean said he found it in his infancy and told him not to lose it or show it to anyone. The box has never been opened, and it looks like it is welded shut. But every rainy day, there will be a small scratching sound inside, as if something is scratching inside with fingernails.
