After Freud, there were many famous figures in the field of psychoanalysis, but the most outstanding one was Jacques Lacan, because Lacan revolutionized the psychoanalysis created by Freud. However, what is significant is that Lacan's guideline for implementing this revolutionary transformation is to "return to Freud." Of course, "returning to Freud" is not to repeat Freud, but to return to the correct direction prescribed by Freud for psychoanalysis. The use of literary criticism is one of the important means for Lacan to construct his psychoanalytic theory, but he does not use psychoanalysis to explain literary phenomena, nor does he use literary phenomena to support psychoanalytic theory, but uses literary criticism to develop psychoanalysis. Because of this, Lacan's psychoanalysis has opened up a broader realm for literary and cultural criticism.
