Ma Busheng is a native of Heshui, Gansu Province. "The Sky Turns to the Northwest" is a collection of essays by the author on northwest themes. The author has lived in rural areas of northwest China since he was a child and has profound experience of rural life in northwest China. Later, he engaged in historical research and literary creation, traveled all over the northwest, and created a large number of literary works and academic treatises on northwest themes, such as "Women's Prison", "The Burning Sun Flag", "Beijing is Not Your Home", etc. Many of his works have had a wide impact in China.
