This book mainly discusses the social changes history of the islands and the indigenous residents in western Sichuan during the Qing Dynasty. Dongfan and Xifan were the special names for these two areas and their indigenous people during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, especially the Qing Dynasty, the dynasty attached great importance to the development of the two places and formulated the policy of "governing according to customs". As the Han population continued to migrate to the two places, the pace of ethnic integration continued to deepen.
