Intelligence plays an increasingly important role in modern novels. Intelligence in novels is reflected in two aspects: one is the intelligence of storytelling, and the other is the intelligence of life discovery. In fact, this kind of intelligence is connected together in excellent novelists. We make this distinction for the sake of analytical clarity. The former is "technical intelligence" and the latter is "discovery intelligence". Whether a novel is written in depth and whether it is readable or not depends largely on the author's two kinds of intelligence.

In March 1986, before Nie Gannu, my beloved friend and writer beloved by many, passed away, he fell ill and had a fever of thirty-nine degrees. His family wanted to take him to the hospital, but he clung to the railings of the crib and refused to move. His wife, Mrs. Zhou Ying, was anxious and asked me for help, saying, "You might be able to persuade him." I immediately ran to his apartment. At that time, Mr. Nie calmly said something to me that I will never forget. He said: "As long as I write the article "Jia Baoyu", you can send me anywhere and deal with me in any way. You can also send me to the Hall of the King of Hell." After that, he still held on to the small bed tightly. After his death, I wrote five mourning articles. The first one was titled "The Last Thread" and was about this moment.

"Mo Yan is Great" is a collection of critical articles on Mo Yan written by the famous literary critic Liu Zaifu from 1997 to the present. It also includes three interviews Liu Zaifu accepted in Southern People Weekly, Asia Weekly and Financial Times after Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for Literature. The book totals 50,000 words and is divided into four volumes. The first volume collects Liu Zaifu's critical articles about Mo Yan written from 1997 to 2001; the second volume focuses on the origin and specific content of Liu Zaifu's description of Mo Yan's whale state. And the inspiration of Mo Yan's works; the third volume includes the transcripts of Liu Zaifu's interviews with famous media after Mo Yan won the award; the fourth volume, with Mo Yan's permission, includes for the first time the full text of his speech at the Swedish Academy and his acceptance speech for accepting the Nobel Prize in Literature.

This volume is the tenth volume of "Liu Zaifu's Prose Collection": a collection of literary criticism. It includes more than 60 critical articles written by the author on reading and appreciating famous Chinese and foreign literary figures in recent years, including critical articles about Gao Xingjian, the 2000 Nobel Prize winner in Literature, and Mo Yan, the 2012 Nobel Prize winner in Literature.
