Liu Yishan was born in Wuhan in December 1950 and his ancestral home is Ezhou, Hubei. He has been a literary editor since 1973. He is currently the vice chairman of Hubei Provincial Writers Association, the president and editor-in-chief of "Changjiang Literature and Art" magazine, and is an expert with outstanding contributions to Hubei Province. He has created and published twenty books of poetry, novels, and prose collections. The novellas "Going Home for the New Year", "Hedong and Hexi", "Conversion" and "Strange Stone" were published in magazines such as "October", "Qingming" and "Furong", and were reprinted by many selected magazines.
