This book is an excellent portrayal of the author's state of life in which he detached himself from the real machine. The author chose a paradise in Huairou, Beijing, which is surrounded by mountains and rivers and isolated from the fast-paced life, as a retreat location and lived in seclusion for more than ten years. The whole book describes the author's mood records of more than three years in the mountains. His thoughts on admiring flowers in spring and listening to snow on winter nights, working and living in a pure and vast natural environment, are a deeper understanding of the idea of "harmony between man and nature" in traditional Chinese culture.
