This book is a selection of prose about the Silk Road by the famous contemporary writer Liu Hanjun. Liu Hanjun was born in Chibi, Hubei, but is famous for his articles on Hainan. Liu Hanjun's words are sometimes like an elf, appreciating the beauty of nature through the diffuse sunshine, the calm sea, and the colorful clouds; sometimes like a vicissitudes of life, an old man is digging out the wisdom of history through vast classics, dusty legends, and heart-wrenching past events. His articles observe the times and the world, talking about the ancient ways and the present. They stand in the future and make judgments in advance for the time to be judged.

This book contains not only lyrical works depicting poetic pictures of water towns and leisurely moods, such as "Morning in Wuzhen" and "Millennium Sound of Blood", but also historical retrospectives, perspectives, emotions, and reflections, such as "Whose Tears Are Flying in the Song Dynasty" and "The Chinese Character Chu is Written Like This"; there are also in-depth descriptions and comments on those historical figures who can be called perfect, such as Yue Fei's "Jiangnan is Red" and Zheng He's "Sail to the South". When describing scenery, the words are meaningful and beautiful, and deeply touching; when commenting on history, the words are grand and profound.
