This book compiles old periodicals from the Republic of China, such as National News, Xinxin News Ten Weekly, and Monk World, and unearths a batch of new historical materials related to the lost articles of important writers or the edition issues of important works, involving famous figures such as Lu Xun, Guo Moruo, Mao Dun, Bing Xin, Xia Yan, Yu Pingbo, Ye Shengtao, Mu Dan, Zhang Ailing, etc. The "non-literary journal" perspective of the collection and the examination of modern literary history from the "non-literary journal" perspective "have indeed opened up the world for the collection of modern writers' works and the examination of modern literary history from a new perspective." Most of the historical materials discussed come from old journals and the voices of writers' poems and speeches preserved in old journals, hence the name "old journals with voices".
