无声的较量:李普曼与冷战
Lin Muyin
"Silent Contest: Lippmann and the Cold War" longitudinally reviews Lippmann's educational background, life experience and ideological changes during his growth process, analyzes Lippmann's democratic outlook, realism, elitism, scientific rationality and other ways of thinking, and points out that these are the basis of his Cold War thoughts. Horizontally, in order to make Lippmann's Cold War thoughts more clear, the author analyzes and compares other representative and related thoughts of the same period, and concludes that national interest is the common cornerstone of these seemingly very different and even sharply opposed thoughts. The author believes that Lippmann established a research framework on Cold War issues and became an effective Cold War evangelist in the field of public opinion at home and abroad. With his top position in the media pyramid, Lippmann participated in the shaping process of U. S. Cold War policy and became an active participant in U. S. Public diplomacy. His thoughts and behaviors have become precious heritage that can be used for reference. This has certain reference significance for our study of "the interaction between ideas, media and U. S. Foreign policy."
