The characters in this novel were jointly created by Liu Jingtang, Fang Xianyi, and Liang Bo. The pen name is tentatively Liang Bo. It tells the thrilling escape story of Kang Youwei. After the 1898 Coup, Kang Youwei left Beijing overnight to hide Emperor Guangxu's secret edict. Since then, he has embarked on a road of escape full of murderous intentions and traps. The Qing court secretly ordered various places to arrest Kang and execute him on the spot. The military and police intercepted and pursued him along the way. At the same time, assassins from various backgrounds were also secretly dispatched. The work tells the story of a series of murders and counter-murders through the plots of changing ships in Tanggu, pursuit of fast ships, escape in Yantai, massacre in Shanghai, and subcontracting of Yinglun, as well as Kang's narrow escape from death in Hong Kong, Japan and other places, and his restoration in Beijing in his later years, his love for the mountains and rivers, and his sudden death in Qingdao.
