The Guangzhou Army Martial Arts School enrolled students in Changsha at the end of 1923. Hunan revolutionary youth Chen Geng was spotted by the Communist Party organization and recommended him to register for the exam. During the exam, Song Xilian sat side by side with Chen Geng, and the two quickly started talking. In the spring of 1924, Huangpu Military Academy was officially prepared. Chen Geng and Song Xilian were both admitted, and the entire Jiangwu School was merged into Huangpu. Chen was assigned to the third team of Huangpu, and Song was assigned to the first team. Chen Geng serves as the captain and is an active member of the military academy. There was a jingle at that time: "Jiang Xianyun's pen and He Zhonghan's mouth are not as effective as Chen Geng's legs." The three were collectively known as the "Three Heroes of Huangpu". Chiang Kai-shek was proud of having such outstanding students, but their factional fighting also gave Principal Chiang a headache.
