Poetry Reader: 32 Poems

This book is the product of a collaboration between two people. I'm a lazy person and tend to forget about it after I finish it. I often say: Once a poem is written, it has nothing to do with the author. Poems have their own destiny. Indeed, the fate of some of my poems often surprises me. For example, "Most Chinese People Are Suffering from Depression", written in response to the May 12 earthquake, spread throughout the world within a week due to reports by Xinhua News Agency and The Hindu. Moreover, the title of the report itself is like a sad poem. Xinhua News Agency is "With the help of the power of poetry, we gain strength", and The Hindu is "Chinese people overcome sadness with the help of poetry"; and "Flowing Water", for example, caused an uproar. It had more than 200,000 clicks in the Tianya community alone in a few days online. It became the champion of the Tianya community for a week and was subsequently widely reposted. China Mobile also made it a special mobile phone text message for downloading and forwarding, and there were countless comments about it.

As the editor-in-chief of "Tianya" and a poet deeply involved in contemporary ideological conditions and political reflections, Li Shaojun's poems naturally reflect some major issues in social thought and historical process. The poet's political sensitivity may be permeating the consciousness of environmentalism and ecology. However, when creating these ecological poems, Li Shaojun's identity consciousness and political identity were seamlessly integrated into a kind of ecological thinking as poetics.
