Research on English for Specific Purposes (esp) Teaching: Based on Humanistic Education Concepts
Literature专门用途英语(ESP)教学研究:基于人本主义教育理念
Li Rui Qi Weiqin Yuan Xiaoli
English for Specific Purposes (ESP for short) is a hot issue in English teaching research in recent years. The first research on ESP was around the 1960s and 1970s of the 20th century. Our country's ESP teaching is basically in sync with the world, and it is also a development trend of college English teaching in recent years. However, due to various reasons, especially the vacillation and inappropriate positioning, ESP teaching has struggled in the past decade or so, almost to the point of self-destruction (Cai Jigang and Liao Leichao, 2010). As a teacher who has been working on the front line of teaching, the author found that although ESP has something in common with EGP (English for General Purposes, also known as ordinary English) teaching, it also has its own special features, and the EGP teaching model cannot be directly copied. At the same time, the trend of humanistic education prevailing in the United States has a profound impact on the transformation of the education sector. In order to promote teaching reform, my country's ESP teaching should integrate humanistic education ideas into the teaching concept. Exploring ESP teaching art and teaching reform under the guidance of humanistic education concepts can better promote teaching reform and provide some reference for ESP teaching reform.
