Those three photos were locked in my mother's hair combing box. The purple-red sandalwood box has clear lines and shallow flower and bird patterns, lying leisurely on it, not showing mountains or dew, quiet and elegant. The box is surrounded by gold-plated lace and has a copper nose and a copper lock. Although the red sandalwood is mottled and the brass lock has dark spots, the overall shape is quite unique. I have always thought that the three yellowed photos should not be placed in such a box. If so, gold and silver should be placed there. However, my mother not only released them, but also locked up those three photos like gold bars for thirty years. Those three photos were like three little beasts lying in the combing box, locked like a cage by the copper lock with a click, quietly waiting for their mother to let them out. Among the three photos, one is the most cherished by my mother. It is a black and white photo with well-proportioned jagged edges.
