"The Xu Family and the Kuomintang in Xu Di, Guangzhou" is a relatively vague title. Strictly speaking, the Chinese Kuomintang (and its predecessor), as a political party, has no direct relationship with the prosperity and decline of the Xu family. When the Kuomintang entered the political stage of modern China, Xu's hairpin family had already passed its historical heyday. However, in an era when they were each looking for a way out, several descendants of the Xu family did become the elite of the Kuomintang. The records of their activities have become an indispensable part of China's modern history. From the time when Xu Baiting, a native of Chaozhou, settled in Panyu during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and established his foundation in Xu Di, Gaodi Street, Guangzhou, until the 29th year of Guangxu (1903), when Xu Yingjun was impeached and dismissed from the post of Governor of Fujian and Zhejiang, the name "Chong" has been passed down to the fifth generation.
