This book attempts to conduct an in-depth investigation of the development characteristics, subject matter, content, and conceptual themes of supernatural novels in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and summarize and analyze several types. It will further explore the relationship between Buddhism and supernatural novels in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, and seek the deep laws of the relationship between literary development and religious culture. This book pays attention to classification and examination, pays attention to the close reading of texts, combines various materials such as Buddhist classics and historical documents, summarizes the types of supernatural novels, and sorts them out category by category. Through mutual verification of literature and history, empirical evidence and interpretation, it tries to show the creative aspects of the supernatural novels in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties as much as possible, and conducts a multi-level investigation on the penetration of Buddhism and Buddhist literature into the texts of supernatural novels in the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties.
