This book describes an epic battle story of a peasant armed guerrilla group active in the mountainous areas of central Hubei. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, they persisted in guerrilla warfare, opened up red base areas, protected the interests of the people, and severely attacked Japanese devils and stubborn bandits. The characters represented by the guerrilla leader Yue Xiang in the book are vivid, the story has twists and turns, and the strategies and tactics are flexible. It is the only full-length novel that reflects the theme of the Anti-Japanese War in central Hubei.
