In 2147, humans have still not found any evidence of extraterrestrial civilization in the universe, and "loneliness" has almost become the default state of civilization. Lin Zhou, the duty officer of the New Shanghai Deep Space Monitoring Department, lives a life close to numbness in front of the boring data flow and cosmic noise every day. Until early one morning, an unusual signal from the outer edge of the Oort cloud was captured-the pulses were extremely regular, but could not be attributed to any known natural or man-made source. After eliminating all possibilities, only one answer remains, which is both exciting and terrifying: this may be a "call" from an alien civilization. As the investigation deepened, Lin Zhou discovered that this signal had a strange overlap with his recurring dream - a long river of numbers composed of 0s and 1s.
