Northwest to Wilderness
Realistic Fiction西北至荒
Lakeside Sand
In the Loess Plateau in the 1980s, the wind blew through the dry and cracked land, and also stirred up the family's longing for the distance. In order to get rid of poverty, they bid farewell to the yellow land where their ancestors had lived for generations, and headed west to the unfamiliar Xinjiang. The difficulties when they first arrived, the embarrassment of strangers, and the longing for their homeland had hit their hearts countless times. However, the mutual support between family members and the warm help among neighbors allowed them to take root in this land of the Western Regions. From the initial struggle to make ends meet, to later living and working in peace and contentment, from ignorant children to supporting the backbone of the family, time has left traces on their faces and deposited the most sincere emotions. This work does not have a magnificent plot, but only the daily trivialities and joys and sorrows of a family over the past 40 years. However, it tells the story of the survival of the children of the Loess Plateau in Xinjiang. It contains the most touching family affection, the simplest persistence, and the two generations' profound understanding of "hometown" and "homeland".
