This book takes as the research object the judicial documents of Fan Zengxiang's appointment as Fan and Zhen during the legal reform in the late Qing Dynasty as reflected in "Fan Shan Zhengshu". It focuses on the conflicts and communication between "change" and "unchanged", "new" and "old" during the transition period, and its role in judicial practice. It embodies this theme and analyzes the concepts and effects of legal reforms in the late Qing Dynasty, provincial judicial concepts, provincial officials' guidance and supervision of local litigation, and the resistance and acceptance of Western literary styles in judicial styles during this period.
