Jinling Strange Monkey
During the Republic of China, Beihewan was prosperous. A small river divided the town into east and west parts. Although China was very unstable at that time, the fireworks of war could hardly burn into this relatively closed town, so in the age of war, it was considered peaceful and stable. There was coal there. The government opened coal mines there and many workers came. Beihewan also became rich. Many businesses lined Beihewan Street, but most of them belonged to the two major landlords in Beihewan. The Hu family was in Hedong and the Pang family was in Hexi. Because Pang and Hu had a long-standing grudge, they were fighting openly and secretly in Beihewan. In the turmoil of the current situation, the Pang and Hu families continued to struggle in business and politics. Some of their descendants joined the Kuomintang army and fought bloody battles with the Japanese, while others joined the Communist Party and sacrificed their lives for the revolution. Love, family, friendship, and all kinds of entanglements connected the two families, but in the end they settled their differences and welcomed the founding of New China together.
