This book starts from the perspective of iconography, combines musicology, archaeology, philology, cultural studies and other disciplines, and uses the portraits unearthed in Han Dynasty tombs in modern times as important research materials. It takes the plucked instrument that frequently appears in Han portraits - the guqin as the research object. It is based on previous research and multi-disciplinary research to conduct a comprehensive and three-dimensional investigation of the guqin in the images of the Han Dynasty. By sorting out, classifying, analyzing and studying the various artistic expressions of the guqin in Han portraits, and corroborating each other with literature, we reveal the characteristics of the times and the rules of evolution of the guqin in the development of the musical society of the Han Dynasty.
