In the process of repairing the fragments, Shen Yan unexpectedly uncovered the bloody past of this old house in the Republic of China: the book-loving owner Gu Wenbai, the gentle and tragic hostess Su Yuan, the maid Chuntao who died unjustly, the famous actress Yu Shuang who died in the stage, four dead souls who died in vain, and a buried love, hatred and heinous sin. With the hand of repairing books, he solved a century-old obsession, appeased the lingering grievances in the house, and made up for the regrets that spanned time. When all the truth came to light and the belated apology finally arrived, the Huaian House, which had trapped countless dead souls for hundreds of years, finally ushered in a new generation of Huaian.
