Paying attention to the defeated groups is an important extension and supplement to the study of the imperial examination system, and is an important link in the study of the imperial examination. This book takes the group of fallen scholars in the Tang and Song Dynasties as the research object. It is divided into ten chapters. It quantitatively analyzes the size of the group and evaluates its overall strength. It also analyzes their living conditions, social future, social status, development trends, existing problems and their relationship with society and the government. The purpose is to summarize some internal laws and experiences worth learning from. It also discusses the problems of failed groups from the institutional level and summarizes the problems existing in the imperial examination system to make up for the shortcomings of imperial examination research.
